Located in Belgium, in the province of Liège, the castle of Modave also called the castle of the Counts of Marchin. Built in the Middle Ages, at the top of a rocky outcrop overlooking the Hoyoux, a tributary of the Meuse, it is one of the rare examples in the Liege region of a style that evokes 17th century French architecture.
Listed as an exceptional heritage of Wallonia, restored and transformed into an elegant pleasure residence with magnificent French gardens. Its terraces offer a superb panorama over a natural park of 450 hectares.
Today owned by the Compagnie Intercommunale Bruxelloise des Eaux, which uses water underground but perfectly enhances this heritage. The gardens are open to the public free of charge and tours of the castle are organized from April.
If a part of the castle to be kept are steeped in history, the annexed parts have been converted into a luxury hotel, seminar or wedding room. The Domaine du Château de Modave offers 20 comfortable rooms in a contemporary style, furnished with care and taste. He will welcome you for a stay with a visit to the castle if you wish, for your business seminars or even for your wedding receptions.
The castle is open from April 1 until mid-November, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Outside of the summer holidays, it is closed on Mondays. It is exceptionally open at the end of the year celebrations.
